Mentoring links business with social enterprise
A mentoring programme for social entrepreneurs is benefitting mentors and mentees.
The UK’s social enterprise sector is growing rapidly – there were more than 62,000 social enterprises, contributing £24 billion to the economy, according to data for 2005-7 from the Annual Survey of Small Business UK, but entrepreneurs often lack sufficient business expertise. In June 2009, Storm Beach Learning and Development, Business in the Community and KPMG, created the Mentoring for Social Entrepreneurs programme to bridge the gap.
