Welcome to the March 2012 issue of the newsletter

We have a fabulous line-up planned for our conference in central London on 11 July. The theme is Embracing and Enabling Change: resilience, creativity and wellbeing in these challenging times. Sessions include a keynote on neuroscience, case studies from Unilever and the Samaritans, and workshops on health/wellbeing coaching, fee negotiations, somatics and mindfulness. Our last conference was a sell-out and I know lots of you were disappointed. Don’t miss the boat this time – for more information and to book now click here .

Our campaign to help increase the amount of high quality health and wellbeing coaching continues. Professor Stephen Palmer, who is one of the leading experts on health coaching, will present a workshop on Health & wellbeing coaching: a psychological approach at our conference. He is also writing articles on health coaching approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, an approach he co-founded, and Motivational Interviewing, for the May and subsequent issues. Meanwhile, in the March issue, we have a general trends article on health coaching (See Highlights of this issue). Also in the next issue, we have a How to coach for wellbeing using the Five Ways to Wellbeing model article by Sarah Dale and Haley Lancaster, as well as a report on resilience. And we have lots more planned, including debates. Join our discussion threads on LinkedIn: How can we make health coaching more widely available? And Do health coaches have to be qualified health professionals?

She said: “I’m looking forward to working with very capable and committed colleagues who I know will also be fun to work with. I’m also looking forward to the opportunities for wider collaboration that the role affords. Coaching psychologists and coaches have the potential to make a very positive difference to the lives of organisations and individuals but to maximise our effectiveness collaboration is critical. It is important that we share our knowledge and experience and value what we each have to offer, learning from each other.”
