This is one of those books that before long will be well-thumbed, and like a dear friend on the shelf, with brightly coloured stickers marking those special gems that you turn to when looking for inspiration.
It’s a celebration of the deep love and care that the contributors, all experts in their field, share for the growing area of coaching supervision. Topics include the Thinking Environment (Jane Adshead-Grant, Anne Hathaway, Linda Aspey and Eve Turner), and peer supervision (Lesley Matile, Sarah Gilbert and Eve Turner). Other contributors include Peter Jackson, Tatiana Bachkirova, Peter Hawkins, Keri Phillips, Jackee Holder and Damian Goldvarg.
The editors have skilfully crafted this rich compendium, taking the reader on a voyage of discovery and Aha! moments. They then enable the reader to reflect and put into practice the concepts presented at the end of each chapter.
The extensive bibliographies, case studies and valuable practical information provided in the appendices, are another reason this book will soon become a favourite.
The first chapter sets the scene and the intention, to “explore who we are as supervisors” with “emphasis on growing our self-awareness, developing our understanding of who we are in relation to ourselves and others and then building our relationships with others and the wider systems”. Each of the following ten insightful chapters is a sparkling jewel.
