Professional coaching body, the International Coach Federation (ICF), has launched a multi-pronged membership initiative for organisations.

The initiative, which goes live this month (November), recognises that the coaching agenda is increasingly shaped, influences and directed by organisations.

Led by ICF vice president, Sharon Toye, and strategic director for organisational members, Liz Rochester, and supported by a working party of other volunteers, and a full-time paid programme manager, the scheme is a result of conversations with more than 40 organisations.

The scheme has four components: face to face and webinar events for internal coaching leads, webinar events for those delivering coaching as internal coaches or leaders as coaches, enabling content and insights from all events to be easily shared across member organisations as ‘Events-in-a-box’, and regular research on hot coaching topics. The live events start in the first week of December.

The initiative seeks to enable its members to benefit from accessing a network of like-minded and progressive people who want to develop coaching in their organisations and be inspired and encouraged by learning from others’ experiences, as well as accessing support from the ICF and its research.

The approach and content of organisational membership with the ICF is being guided by an advisory board of organisations that represent large corporates, not-for-profits, government-funded and SMEs including: Aviva, Bloomberg, Grant Thornton, IMI, NHS England/NHS Improvement and NSG Pilkington. In parallel, ICF Global is putting together a board to develop the initiative globally.
