BAPT CONFERENCE EXPLORES JUNGIAN TYPE SYSTEMS
The New Normal: People, Type and the Post-Pandemic World – this was the theme of the BAPT’s 33rd annual conference, with more than 30 sessions delivered by international speakers and attended by a global audience.
BAPT is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting knowledge of Jungian psychological type systems and provides a forum for type practitioners and enthusiasts.
James Johnston from the C G Jung Institute and ISAP, Switzerland, delivered a keynote on The Pandemic: Enabling the introverted Orientations, speaking on how the pandemic had allowed people with a preference for introversion to take respite from our extraverted culture.
In their keynote, Personality Type and Reactions to a Pandemic, Rich Thompson and John Hackston from the Myers-Briggs Company presented a synopsis of their current research into workplace wellbeing.
In her keynote Talking Type in the Virtual World, Susan Nash of EM-Power challenged the assumption that virtual workshops can’t be as effective as face-to-face, while Linda Berens of Interstrength’s keynote on From the Stress Zone to Transformation looked at some of humans’ natural self-organising patterns and processes and what can happen under stress. By understanding these through the lenses of personality type, we can better self-manage and transform habitual responses to stress.
In the final keynote, Post Traumatic Growth: Pointing in a Positive Direction, David Hodgson, author of The Buzz, focused on choosing to see the Pandemic as an opportunity for positive growth and how trauma can provide motivation for transformation.
