Coaching has lost another of its champions and wise elders – Camilla Arnold, coach, coach consultant, author and managing director, client services, at executive coaching and development consultancy TXG.
Arnold had stage 4 colon cancer, which she was open about, proclaiming on her Twitter account that she wanted to “relish every minute”. This was very Camilla – I was at school with Arnold for a while and have fond memories of her joie de vivre, her playfulness and sense of humour. I was delighted to encounter her again many years later in our shared profession of coaching, in her role as then global head of coaching at TXG.
We had a raucous lunch when we first got together again. She’d blossomed into a highly vivacious, warm, kind and funny fully fledged adult. We were well overdue to have lunch again, thwarted by the pandemic.
Arnold was much respected in the industry, assessing more than 3,500 coaches internationally while at TXG.
Arnold started her career in corporate finance before becoming a recruitment consultant in both London and Sydney. She then moved into operations management and marketing with organisations including a US property developer, an extreme sports production company and the Duchess of York. Before joining TXG, she worked as operations director at executive search firm, Norman Broadbent.
Her expertise included coaching methodologies, outsourcing executive coaching and working with people through key career stage transitions. On the latter topic, she co-authored If Not Now, When? How to take charge of your career (Bloomsbury, 2010) and Taking Charge of your Career: the essential guide to finding the career that’s right for you (Bloomsbury, 2017).
- Those very close to her highlighted how she stood for many things – for justice and equality, particularly for the raising of women’s voices, for supporting those who find themselves in difficulty, and for helping people reach their potential and live a full life that makes their heart sing. Her family has chosen the following causes among which any donations will be shared: Cancer Research UK, the Trussell Trust, the Fawcett Society, Young Minds, and the Vavengers: https://bit.ly/3bxPONv
- Arnold highlighted the importance of knowing who you are as coach. Read one of her articles here: https://bit.ly/3u0ZuXA
