Team Coaching With Impact At Work: A handbook for team coaches

I have enjoyed reading Gill Graves’ new book. It’s the culmination of her doctoral research which was co-created with team coaches sharing experiences of their practice and methodology.

It blends theory, ethical best practice and the real-life messiness of working with teams in an emergent discipline. As someone who has been team coaching for 10 years, I recognise this messiness.

I found there were some great questions and signposting which enabled me to review and reflect on my practice. I recognised approaches and tools I already use and new ones for me to explore further. For experienced team coaches, this is a great benchmarking tool. For new team coaches, it offers a simple model, offered as an example; a compendium of resources, and reflections on real life teams to help steer your path. All written in very practical language.

Above all, it highlights the necessity of supervision as a partner to the team coach, questioning if this is the same or a different supervisor for individual work. As someone with a foot in all those camps, I agree it’s vital.

Overall, a very useful book that I’ll be dipping back into regularly.
